Area students and educators showcase technology expertise

December 22, 2014

Students with technology

Over 45 educators and 28 local students showcased their technology expertise at the Area Education Agency 267 1:1 conference held on Friday, December 5. The conference was a one-day, hands-on learning opportunity designed to support educators and administrators with an emphasis on teaching and learning within a technology-rich K-12 school setting.

Participants will chose from various learning strands around topics such as digital citizenship, adaptive technology for students with special needs and assessing learning. Students demonstrated how to use a wide variety of popular technologies in the classroom such as robots, coding, augmented and virtual reality and 3-D printers.

“This conference is unique in that adults are not only learning from each other but from students as well,” said Dr. Jerry Schnabel, AEA 267 Director of Information Technology. “The field of instructional technology is moving so fast that we need to take advantage of everyone’s expertise and experience to stay current. AEA 267 is thrilled to be able to organize this powerful learning opportunity.”
