Iowa’s AEAs are pleased to support school teacher librarians with their continuous improvement efforts by sharing archived results of the School Library Survey. This survey collects data related to many aspects of the school library program including staff and staff activities, library usage, program management and technology, budget and expenditures, and collection information.

School teacher librarians can use the survey data to learn more about other Iowa school library programs and services, and how those programs and services may impact student learning and engagement. The survey data includes school enrollment level and grade level to assist teacher librarians in decision-making and goal-setting with like districts or schools in mind.
The survey also correlates with the Iowa Department of Education’s Iowa School Library Program Standards, which provides guidance and benchmarks for program improvement.
